Healthcare Patient Portal

Healthcare Provider

HIPAA compliant10K+ active users4-month build

The Challenge

A multi-location healthcare provider wanted to improve patient engagement and reduce administrative burden. Patients had to call or visit in-person for appointment scheduling, prescription refills, and accessing test results. The provider needed a HIPAA-compliant mobile application that integrated with their existing EHR system and allowed secure patient-provider communication.

Our Approach

We developed a cross-platform mobile application using React Native for iOS and Android. The backend was built on Node.js with AWS infrastructure, implementing HIPAA-compliant data storage and transmission. We integrated with the provider's EHR system using HL7 FHIR APIs for seamless data exchange. The app includes features for appointment scheduling, prescription refills, secure messaging, test results viewing, and bill payment.

The Outcome

The app launched with 10,000+ active users within the first 3 months and has since grown to over 35,000 users. Appointment scheduling calls decreased by 60%, freeing up staff for more critical tasks. Patient satisfaction scores improved significantly, with 89% of users rating the app experience as 'excellent.' The provider reported improved care coordination and reduced no-show rates through automated appointment reminders.
