Fintech Real-Time Monitoring
Fintech Startup
The Challenge
A fast-growing fintech startup needed a robust transaction monitoring system to meet regulatory requirements and maintain customer trust. Their existing monitoring was reactive rather than proactive, leading to several customer-impacting incidents. They were preparing for SOC 2 audit and needed comprehensive audit logging, real-time alerting, and automated incident response.
Our Approach
We built a high-throughput monitoring system in Go, designed to handle 100K+ transactions per second. The system processes transaction data in real-time, applies rule-based fraud detection, and triggers alerts for suspicious activity. We implemented a Kubernetes-based architecture with automatic failover and implemented comprehensive observability using Prometheus and Grafana. All data access and system changes are logged for audit compliance.
The Outcome
The system achieved 99.98% uptime over the first 6 months of operation, with p99 latency under 50ms even during peak traffic. Automated failover has prevented multiple potential outages. The company successfully passed SOC 2 Type II audit on the first attempt, with auditors specifically praising the monitoring and incident response systems. Mean time to detection (MTTD) for fraud dropped from hours to seconds.
Deliverables
- Real-time transaction monitoring system in Go
- Kubernetes deployment with HA configuration
- Prometheus metrics collection and Grafana dashboards
- Automated alerting and incident response workflows
- Comprehensive audit logging system
- SOC 2 compliance documentation and controls
Technology Stack
"This system is the backbone of our operation now. We sleep better at night knowing transactions are monitored 24/7 with automated responses to any anomalies."
